IT Security Specialist - Onsite in Doha, Qatar

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Security Specialist to join our team in Doha, Qatar. This is an onsite contract position, initially for one year with the possibility of renewal. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of information systems, investigating breaches, and providing risk assessments and recommendations in compliance with established policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and investigate security incidents following defined procedures, recommend corrective actions, and oversee implementation.
• Monitor and reconcile violation reports and logs created by automated security systems.
• Conduct interviews with minor internal offenders and prepare detailed reports for management review.
• Provide advice on defining and managing access rights, administering physical and logical access controls to maintain secure information service access.
• Perform security control assessments for specific areas and evaluate infrastructure security.
• Identify network attack risks and recommend suitable remedial measures.
• Execute business risk and vulnerability assessments, including business impact analysis on medium complexity systems.
• Evaluate compliance with information security policies, standards, legal, and regulatory requirements.
• Review network usage to detect inappropriate practices, advise on necessary actions to address breaches.
• Educate users on security controls and convey information assurance risks effectively.
• Lead investigations on suspected attacks and resolve security incidents using forensic techniques when appropriate, documenting findings and lessons learned.
• Contribute to developing security components within system architectures and identify root causes of incidents for resolution.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field.
• At least 10 years’ experience in Information Security, preferably within the oil and gas sector.
• Familiarity with national and international information security standards.
• Proficient with IT competency frameworks related to information security.
• Strong understanding of principles involved in establishing and maintaining information security requirements.
• Good knowledge of IT business applications and organizational IT operations.
• Ability to evaluate risks and legal impacts with a proactive approach to compliance.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for persuasive and effective interaction.
