Job description
Overview
The IP Billing Executive at Maiya Multispeciality Hospital LLP in Bengaluru plays a crucial role in efficiently managing inpatient billing from admission until discharge. The position requires close collaboration with multiple hospital departments to ensure prompt and precise billing procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the complete inpatient admission, billing, and discharge workflows.
- Generate and maintain interim and final inpatient bills accurately.
- Record charges related to room rent, nursing, consultations, procedures, OT, ICU, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and consumables.
- Verify billing information thoroughly to catch any missed or erroneous entries.
- Liaise with nursing, pharmacy, lab, radiology, and other teams to resolve outstanding charges.
- Handle payment collection via cash, card, UPI, and issue receipts accordingly.
- Maintain patient advances and correctly reconcile them against the final bills.
- Coordinate with Insurance and TPA departments for pre-authorizations, approvals, and settlements.
- Validate insurance deductions, non-payable items, and patient responsibilities.
- Facilitate discharge clearances by ensuring all billing formalities are fulfilled.
- Process refunds and billing adjustments in line with hospital policies and authorized procedures.
- Prepare daily reports on billing, collections, outstanding balances, and discharges.
- Perform daily cash and billing reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate billing records and patient documentation.
- Address patient and attendant billing inquiries professionally and courteously.
- Protect confidentiality of sensitive patient and financial data.
- Adhere to hospital billing policies, SOPs, and statutory regulations.
- Undertake any other billing-related tasks assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum education: PUC / 12th Pass; preference for B.Com, BBA, Hospital Administration, or related disciplines.
- Certification in hospital billing or insurance is advantageous.
- 1 to 3 years experience in inpatient hospital billing, especially in multispeciality hospitals handling Insurance/TPA patients.
- Fresh candidates with relevant billing knowledge may also be considered.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of inpatient hospital billing and insurance/TPA billing procedures.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and hospital processes.
- Proficiency in hospital information systems (HIS/HMS) for billing management.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and numerical accounting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Effective communication and coordination capabilities.
- Ability to function under pressure and meet discharge timelines.
- Willingness to work shifts including weekends and holidays.
