The Tullamore Court Hotel, part of the ambitious and employee-centric iNUA Hotel Collection known for its Great Place to Work recognition, is seeking a seasoned Hotel Financial Controller. This role is integral to the hotel's leadership team, driving financial strategies and operational success.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the General Manager and collaborating closely with the Group Finance team, the successful candidate will lead the hotel's entire finance function. The focus is delivering accurate financial reports, providing insightful commercial analysis, maintaining robust internal controls, and supporting operational teams to enhance business results.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily finance operations at the hotel.
- Prepare precise monthly management accounts, forecasts, and annual budgets.
- Deliver financial analyses and insights to assist strategic decision-making.
- Monitor and optimize metrics including revenue, payroll, departmental costs, margins, and overall profitability.
- Work closely with the General Manager and department heads to enhance financial performance.
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable, income audits, cash controls, and banking activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and maintain strong financial controls.
- Handle balance-sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments efficiently.
- Support payroll processes ensuring accuracy in financial data connected to payroll.
- Track capital expenditures and help justify investment proposals for hotel improvements.
- Coordinate year-end financial statements, external audits, and statutory reporting.
- Ensure adherence to VAT, tax, and other financial regulatory requirements.
- Lead and mentor the hotel finance team, fostering professional growth.
- Collaborate with the Group Finance team on collection-wide initiatives and projects.
A Day in the Life
The role offers dynamic daily activities ranging from analyzing previous day’s revenue, engaging with departmental leaders to discuss labor costs and forecasts, compiling management reports, advising the General Manager on financial decisions, and improving overall financial processes—all towards achieving the hotel's financial goals.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior finance professional in hotel finance.
- Possession of a recognized accounting qualification or extensive relevant finance experience.
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting.
- Strong analytical abilities and keen attention to detail.
- In-depth understanding of financial controls, compliance, and audit processes.
- Effective communication skills, capable of presenting complex financial data to non-finance personnel.
- Comfortable engaging with senior management and operational heads.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the hotel, hospitality, or tourism sectors.
- Background in multi-property hotel group finance.
- Familiarity with hotel operational systems and performance metrics.
- Previous leadership or development of finance teams.
