About the Role

Join Bayshore HealthCare as a Homemaker and contribute to making a meaningful difference in the lives of adults living independently at home. This position focuses on delivering non-medical assistance to individuals, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, mental health issues, or other complex challenges. The role enhances clients' independence, safety, and overall quality of life through supportive household and community activities.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, laundry, dishwashing, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Help organize and maintain safe, clutter-free living spaces, supporting clients in establishing daily household routines.
  • Adapt to diverse home environments, including those requiring intensive cleaning and organizational efforts.
  • Assist with meal preparation, including planning menus, grocery shopping, and cooking.
  • Offer companionship, promote independence, encourage community involvement, and assist with daily living skills.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and community events as needed.
  • Observe and communicate any changes in client condition, needs, or home environment.
  • Complete necessary documentation while ensuring confidentiality and privacy.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A high school diploma or an equivalent certification is required.
  • Previous experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, mental health issues, or related support needs is advantageous.
  • Experience in homemaking, residential care, community support services, or cleaning roles is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities are essential.
  • Capacity to work independently and uphold professional boundaries with clients.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • A clear criminal record with vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
  • Physical capability to perform duties involving lifting, bending, reaching, standing, and extended cleaning activities.
