Job Overview and Key Qualifications

The Helper Carpenter role requires mastery of all pertinent knowledge, skills, and physical abilities essential for the position. Candidates must adhere strictly to safety protocols and possess dependable transportation.

Key Responsibilities

• Recognize and select necessary tools for job tasks.
• Identify potential safety hazards and implement preventative measures.
• Support in measuring, marking, and cutting wood and metal materials according to specifications.
• Assist in constructing, reinforcing, and dismantling concrete forms.
• Help build wooden forms and various wooden structures such as decks, steps, and bulletin boards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work sites.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' experience as a Carpenter Helper in industrial construction settings.
• Familiarity with materials, tools, and foundational building and form construction methods.
• Basic arithmetic competency.
• Reliable personal transportation is required.
• Capability to fulfill full work schedules including overtime when necessary.
• Commitment to workplace safety and abiding by company and site regulations.
• Possession of required personal tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current or former Zachry Industrial employee.
• Formal technical or trade education in related fields.
• Experience with carpentry, concrete work, and rebar.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting physical activities.
• Effective verbal communication and hearing are necessary.
• Use of hands and arms for gripping, turning, pushing, pulling, and signaling movements.
• Capability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work at heights involving ladders, stairways, scaffolding, with appropriate fall protection.
• Operate in diverse weather conditions while equipped with required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, masks, high-visibility vests, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
