Role Overview
We are hiring an Engineering Manager II who will oversee a vital segment of our engineering department. This position entails responsibility for overseeing delivery and shaping technical strategies across several intricate and interconnected product domains. You will lead a dynamic team of 6-10 senior engineers, possibly organized into two squads, ensuring the accomplishment of team objectives that align with broader company priorities.
Key Duties
- Provide visionary leadership and direction to senior engineers, bridging technology objectives with product goals while maintaining balance between immediate deliverables and long-term tech quality.
- Support growth and development of direct and indirect reports, fostering leadership skills within the team, guiding hiring processes, team structuring, succession planning, and managing performance effectively.
- Champion technical excellence by directing architectural planning, promoting system reliability, scalability, and performance, and maintaining technical health with appropriate investment in system enhancement alongside new features.
- Plan and take ownership of cross-team project deliveries, resource distribution, and hiring strategies, identify and manage complex delivery risks, and communicate clearly on project progress and risks to leadership.
- Collaborate closely with product and business leaders to shape medium- and long-range product strategies, focus on measurable impacts, and cultivate a culture of strategic experimentation.
- Create and nurture an inclusive and accountable work environment that encourages teamwork, knowledge sharing, and alignment across engineering management and architectural teams.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 4 years' experience managing engineering teams, with a demonstrated ability to lead senior technical staff and manage complex projects.
- Experience overseeing delivery of multi-team or sophisticated product initiatives.
- Strong technical foundation including proficiency with modern development technologies such as Java or Go, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, messaging queues, and cloud services, with experience driving architectural decisions.
- Proficient in partnering with product stakeholders to align technical direction with business needs.
- Track record of mentoring engineers and developing future managerial leaders.
- Expertise in Agile practices and managing complex cross-team delivery challenges under fast-paced conditions.
- Exposure to fintech or e-commerce sectors is advantageous.
