About the Role and Company

Launch your career path with Kraft Heinz as an Electrical Technician in Hastings, Hawke's Bay. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute electrical breakdown repairs, along with preventative and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and fix faults on motors, sensors, safety mechanisms, and industrial control systems.
  • Install, maintain, and adjust electrical devices and machinery to ensure optimal operations.
  • Maintain accurate labor, work order, and parts usage records within CMMS systems such as Mainpac.
  • Assist with predictive maintenance and perform condition monitoring tasks.
  • Diagnose and service PLCs, HMIs, variable speed drives, and various automation technology.
  • Support commissioning and integration processes for new control systems and hardware.
  • Ensure electrical schematics and drawings remain precise and up to date.
  • Implement safe isolation and Lock Out/Tag Out procedures consistently for safety compliance.
  • Comply with food safety, quality standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to the site, including MAF protocols.
  • Identify workplace hazards, engage in risk assessments, and escalate issues promptly.
  • Contribute to company sustainability initiatives by promoting efficient energy, water, and waste management.
  • Collaborate closely with fitters, technicians, engineers, and production teams to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and project groups providing electrical and control systems support.
  • Participate actively in ongoing continuous improvement projects including problem-solving activities.
  • Deliver training and mentorship to apprentices as required.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a current practicing license as an NZ EWRB Registered Electrician.
  • Industrial electrical experience, especially within FMCG or manufacturing environments, is preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with sensors, machine timing, safety protocols, and automation technology.
  • Computer skills including MS Office, use of CMMS, as well as knowledge of PLCs and SCADA.
  • Capability to function autonomously and collaborate effectively under pressure.
  • Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or comparable PLC software is advantageous.
  • Qualification equivalent to NZQA Level 4 in Electrical Engineering.
  • LOTO certification or willingness to obtain certification within the first month.
  • Hold a valid and clean New Zealand driver’s license.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in teams.
  • Dedicated to maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Preparedness to support continuous 24/7 operational demands.
  • Eligible to work in New Zealand with full rights.
