Job description

Overview

Shared Health coordinates patient-centered clinical and preventive health services throughout Manitoba as well as province-wide health services and centralized administrative functions. Within the Diagnostic Services portfolio, the Diagnostic Imaging Processing Clerk operates under general supervision while upholding the organization's mission and values.

Role Summary

The clerk is responsible for reviewing diagnostic imaging requisitions for completeness, contacting physicians, healthcare professionals, or patients for missing information, assessing urgency and modality requirements, and transcribing PDF requisitions into electronic records accurately.

Experience and Skills

  • At least 2 years of recent experience (within 5 years) in a fast-paced computerized medical office, handling high volumes of requisitions with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with RightFax and Laserfiche software is advantageous.
  • Exposure to Diagnostic Imaging Departments and knowledge of RIS/PACS systems is beneficial.

Educational Credentials

  • Medical Administrative Assistant or Medical Office Assistant certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Completion of high school or equivalent meeting Manitoba standards.
  • Medical terminology training may be required.
  • Equivalent educational qualifications will be considered.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel), Teams, and Outlook is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to foster constructive, collaborative relationships within multidisciplinary teams and with external entities.

Physical and Work Conditions

  • Capable of performing essential physical job functions.
  • May occasionally need to work extended hours.
  • Potential interactions with agitated or aggressive clients, visitors, or staff.

Additional Information

This position is casual, with an anticipated start date as soon as possible, working onsite at Shared Health - Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Hours are 7.5 hours daily including weekends.

Applicants must provide a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check, obtained within six months before start date, at their own expense.

Holding multiple positions concurrently exceeding a total of 1.0 FTE within Shared Health is not permitted.
