Data Scientist - Information Technology (Data Science Track)

Job Overview

Singapore Airlines is seeking talented data scientists at various experience levels to advance their AI, data science, and business analytics initiatives across the organization, including subsidiaries within the airline group.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute as a core team member in the in-house AI and data science unit focusing on generative AI, autonomous agents, natural language processing, computer vision, recommender systems, mathematical optimization, game theory, and experimental design.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to develop impactful AI, data science, and analytics features and services, design and implement scalable machine learning and deep learning models, and deploy these solutions as API microservices to empower software applications and business users with efficient decision-making tools.
• Manage technical collaboration with external technology partners by providing datasets, evaluating partner-developed prediction models, and facilitating their deployment to cloud production environments.
• Coordinate with application development teams to integrate and operationalize AI and ML capabilities within API microservices for seamless application usage.
• Note: Assignments may require placement within any of the Singapore Airlines Group subsidiaries.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or similar fields is mandatory. Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) specializing in machine learning or other AI disciplines are preferable.
• Intermediate proficiency in Python programming, including algorithm design, data structures, and SQL knowledge. Experience or familiarity with modern programming languages such as Scala, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or C# and their functional/object-oriented paradigms is advantageous.
• Hands-on experience or exposure to distributed computing frameworks like Spark and stream processing systems such as Kafka for big data processing.
• Relevant internship or industry experience working as a hands-on data scientist or AI engineer, skilled in both shallow and deep learning concepts, with strong familiarity with comprehensive resources like the 2023 textbook "An Introduction to Statistical Learning – with Applications in Python" by Gareth James.
• Additional desirable skills include:
• Using contemporary large language models (LLMs) with prompt engineering (e.g., OpenAI ChatGPT, Bing Chat) and knowledge of LLM application frameworks like LlamaIndex and LangChain.
• Experience with GPU-accelerated deep learning libraries such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• An understanding of Bayesian statistics, inference, and probabilistic graphical models including Bayesian and causal networks.
• Hands-on familiarity with public cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for effective interaction with technical teams and non-technical business personnel.
• Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or Kanban project management environments is a plus.
