About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Center Design Engineering Manager specializing in electrical engineering to join a globally recognized leader in mission-critical facility design. This position offers remote work flexibility with up to 25% travel to key international locations. Reporting to the EMEA Director of Engineering for the Data Centre division, the role encompasses full ownership of electrical design leadership for data center projects from concept through to construction closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all electrical design aspects on data center projects, ensuring comprehensive management from initial concepts through detailed design and on-site construction support.
- Maintain hands-on involvement in electrical design activities while providing technical leadership and overseeing critical design elements for high-reliability facilities.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers and subject matter experts across various project sizes.
- Manage deliverables, resource allocation, scheduling, and quality control throughout project lifecycles.
- Offer expert technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to the Data Center Design & Engineering team.
- Develop and enforce electrical design standards, operating procedures, and industry best practices to maintain high-quality outputs.
- Conduct detailed reviews and approve electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and technical reports with formal peer review processes.
- Serve as a technical lead engaging directly with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders in meetings and project reviews.
- Guide project teams through value engineering, option analysis, and critical technical decisions to optimize design solutions.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- 7 to 12 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering design leadership or senior design engineer roles focused on mission-critical infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in comprehensive electrical engineering services encompassing medium and low voltage power distribution, transformers, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and standby generation systems.
- Strong familiarity with relevant electrical codes, industry standards, and best practice methodologies.
- Experience with value engineering and incorporating emerging technologies to develop resilient, cost-efficient solutions.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Awareness of state-of-the-art technology trends such as edge computing and artificial intelligence applications.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to foster long-term strategic innovation.
- Demonstrated capability in building effective teams and advancing engineering operational processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Comfortable with remote work and willing to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
