Job Overview
This position reports to the Territory Area Manager and collaborates closely with Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services team to deliver customized laboratory work and research protocols. Located in Rensselaer, NY, the role operates primarily on a hybrid schedule, requiring two days onsite and three days remote work, Monday through Friday, first shift.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and analyze detailed inventory, procurement, and operational datasets to inform and enhance business decisions.
- Create, update, and manage Power BI dashboards, automated reports, data models, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Assess inventory status, supplier performance, service levels, and stock availability, identifying trends and potential risks.
- Refine inventory strategies through demand forecasting, replenishment modeling, and reduction of excess or obsolete stock.
- Maintain data quality and compliance via governance, auditing, validation, and exception reporting processes.
- Evaluate operational workloads to optimize staffing and resource allocation supporting organizational growth.
- Lead initiatives to automate reporting processes, improve data integrity, and implement scalable operational enhancements.
- Work collaboratively across departments including operations, procurement, quality, finance, IT, and customer teams to translate requirements into actionable insights.
- Deliver presentations of analytical findings and recommendations to leadership, supporting audits and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
- Minimum education of a high school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or related fields is preferred.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, inventory management, supply chain, procurement, or related operational environments.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions like PivotTables, Power Query, complex formulas, and handling large datasets.
- Experience developing Power BI dashboards and reporting tools, along with proficiency in data modeling and KPI reporting.
- Working knowledge of SQL; familiarity with Snowflake, SAP, ERP systems, or inventory management software preferred.
- Proven skills in integrating, validating, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data from multiple sources.
- Experience in creating KPIs, forecasting models, exception management reports, and providing actionable business advice.
- Strong understanding of data governance, master data management, reporting controls, and standards for data quality.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and capacity for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently within a regulated, customer-centric setting.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and ongoing process improvement.
- Preferred experience includes supporting audits, driving process improvements, and operational reporting.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and proactive in identifying opportunities to optimize processes and business results.
