Overview
We are looking for a detail-focused Global Customs and Compliance Analyst to strengthen our import compliance efforts in the U.S. and Canadian markets. This role involves responsibilities such as reviewing customs entries, tariff classification, origin and valuation assessments, managing broker relationships, supporting trade programs, and ensuring audit-ready documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure incoming shipments comply with customs regulations in the U.S. and Canada.
- Support implementation and management of trade programs like CTPAT, duty drawback, and First Sale.
- Maintain and verify accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) entries for all merchandise.
- Respond promptly and accurately to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) CF28 information requests.
- Manage country of origin determinations and marking guidelines, advising internal parties accordingly.
- Utilize the ACE portal for data retrieval, entry analysis, and compliance reporting.
- Maintain thorough, audit-ready customs documentation and assist with internal and external audits.
- Collaborate closely with customs brokers to ensure correct filings and resolve discrepancies swiftly.
- Conduct research on customs rulings, trade legislation, regulations, and judicial outcomes relevant to compliance.
- Contribute to development and upkeep of trade compliance policies, procedures, and training materials.
- Stay abreast of trade legislation updates, tariff modifications, and regulatory changes and evaluate their implications.
- Analyze trade data, related systems, regulatory frameworks, and technical criteria to support compliance efforts.
- Assist senior leaders in liaison with external counsel, trade bodies, and government agencies as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years' experience in trade compliance, customs operations, legal, or regulatory roles.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. customs compliance requirements; familiarity with Canadian customs is advantageous.
- Proficient in tariff classification, valuation, country of origin issues, customs paperwork, and broker oversight.
- Possession or pursuit of a Customs Broker license or Certified Customs Specialist credential is beneficial.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Outstanding research, analytical abilities, and problem-solving aptitude.
- Strong organization skills to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently.
- Responsive, flexible, and effective in cooperative cross-functional and global work settings.
- Availability to work on-site with a hybrid schedule model in the New York City metropolitan area.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers an annual salary starting from $80,000, which will scale depending on the candidate's experience. This figure represents base salary and does not include the overall benefits package.
