Role Overview
Join our team as an Installation Specialist at one of our Customer Delivery Hubs, where you'll deliver and install beloved John Lewis products like furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems, and TVs directly to customers’ homes. You'll work as part of a two-person team driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle, providing excellent service that reflects the John Lewis brand.
Working Hours and Schedule
The position requires working 41 hours over a 4-day week on a 5-week rota, with two available shift patterns:
- AM Shift: Monday to Saturday, 06:00 to 17:00
- PM Shift: Monday to Friday, 10:30 to 21:30 and Saturday, 07:00 to 18:00
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the John Lewis brand by delivering outstanding customer service.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to load delivery vehicles each day.
- Show respect and care for customers' homes while managing any unexpected situations to seek the best solutions.
- Efficiently install delivered products and demonstrate their operation to customers.
- Stay informed about new products and technologies to enhance performance in your role.
- Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Physical Demands
This role involves handling and delivering heavy items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, beds, and mattresses, requiring frequent heavy lifting.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Hold a Manual C1 UK driving licence with no more than six penalty points.
- Possess a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) or Driver Qualification Card by the start date.
- Carry a Tachograph Card.
- Prior experience driving 7.5-tonne vehicles.
- Previous installation experience is necessary; further training will be provided for installer accreditation.
- Background in customer-facing roles with strong verbal communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
- Good technological aptitude.
Preferred Skills
- Experience installing and disconnecting white goods.
- Competence in TV installation.
- Ability to assemble flat-pack furniture.
