About the Role
We are collaborating with a prominent international engineering and construction firm to recruit a permanent CSA Estimator. This position offers the chance to contribute to complex projects in fields such as advanced manufacturing, life sciences, data centres, and high-tech industrial settings. The role involves working closely with a pre-construction and commercial team to prepare precise and competitive cost estimates for significant projects across Ireland and Europe. Hybrid working options and competitive compensation are included.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate comprehensive cost estimates and prepare tender submissions focused on Civil, Structural, and Architectural packages within large-scale construction projects.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, scope specifications, and tender documents to ascertain requirements and related costs.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and cost evaluations for civil, structural, architectural, and site development tasks.
- Create detailed cost plans and budgets throughout the tendering phases.
- Obtain and assess quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Support procurement planning and help shape packaging strategies.
- Identify commercial risks, opportunities, and propose value engineering solutions during pre-construction.
- Work collaboratively with design, engineering, procurement, and project delivery teams for accurate cost aligning with project scope.
- Prepare clarifications, cost reports, and presentations for tenders for internal and client scrutiny.
- Stay informed on market conditions, price fluctuations for materials, labor costs, and subcontractor availability.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in estimating and pre-construction functions.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Prior professional experience in roles like CSA Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or Cost Engineer is essential.
- Thorough understanding of civil, structural, and architectural construction methods.
- Experience in large commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or mission-critical projects is highly preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents with precision.
- Strong commercial insight and analytical aptitude.
- High numerical accuracy with strong attention to detail.
- Proven track record preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for complex projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience with estimating software and digital take-off tools is beneficial.
- Capable of working independently while also effectively participating in a team environment.
