Overview
032c Ready-to-Wear seeks an experienced Creative Pattern Maker to join our Berlin design team. This role demands a self-sufficient, technically skilled professional with a strong creative sense for garment construction and capable of managing various product categories throughout the entire pattern and fit development process.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Creative Director and design team to convert creative concepts into forward-thinking patterns and construction techniques.
- Develop both digital and manual patterns derived from sketches, fabric draping, and design inspirations, including pattern adjustments and grading.
- Take ownership of pattern precision, quality, and fit from initial design handover to final fitting stages.
- Engage with multiple product categories, demonstrating expertise in areas such as tailoring and outerwear and handling complex garment constructions.
- Work hands-on with forms through draping, pinning, and fitting processes; sew and assemble garments when necessary.
- Coordinate tightly with the in-house atelier on garment construction, finishings, and flawless execution; oversee prototype and sample quality, plus garment fittings and alterations.
- Partner with Product Development and Production teams to guarantee superior fit and finishings, providing clear pattern annotations and technical guidance for manufacturers.
- Play a pivotal role in runway preparations including intense fitting sessions, final show fittings, last-minute modifications, and garment readiness for presentations.
- Organize atelier workflow and manage coordination efforts with the Pattern Assistant and Seamstress.
Required Qualifications
- At least 4 to 5 years of professional experience as a Pattern Maker, ideally in an international, high-end, or designer fashion setting.
- Proven experience working across a variety of garment product categories.
- Strong creative aptitude for interpreting design ideas into innovative and sometimes unconventional pattern solutions.
- Proficiency in CAD pattern-making software such as Gerber or Lectra.
- Confident working directly on the physical form through draping, fitting, and garment assembly.
- Deep technical knowledge of garment construction, finishing techniques, and production necessities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced runway environment, adapting quickly during intense fitting and show preparation periods.
- Experience managing or coordinating ateliers, junior pattern makers, or seamstresses is highly advantageous.
