About the Role

Wodonga TAFE's Kids on Campus Childcare Centre is seeking a skilled Cook to join their dedicated early childhood team. The role involves preparing nutritious meals for children aged six weeks to six years, emphasizing safe food handling and allergy-aware cooking. This position also supports fostering a caring and respectful atmosphere for children, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve healthy meals designed for young children aged six weeks to six years.
  • Ensure children's wellbeing by practicing safe food handling and accommodating allergy requirements.
  • Work together with the team to plan child-friendly menus that respect dietary needs and financial limits.
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety within the kitchen environment.
  • Contribute to creating a nurturing and respectful setting for children and staff.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working in a commercial kitchen or within an early childhood service.
  • Possession of or willingness to obtain a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
  • Excellent time management, strong organisational skills, and a proactive, enthusiastic approach.
  • A passion for preparing healthy food and promoting a better work-life balance.
  • Capability to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
  • Desirable: Certificate in Commercial Cookery.

Additional Information

Employed full-time on an ongoing basis, this role offers a salary range of $59,006 to $73,758 annually, plus superannuation. You will work in a positive, family-friendly environment within a professionally equipped kitchen. Wodonga TAFE prioritizes child safety, requiring all staff to complete Child Safe Training and maintain required working with children checks as well as criminal history clearances.
