About the Role

Consulting Engineers are key members of Cisco's Customer Experience (CX) team, providing Lifecycle Services that combine advanced Cisco analytics with expert technical consulting to deliver value, innovation, and technological adoption for client networks. They act as trusted advisers, guiding clients through network risk reduction, innovation, and enhancement to align with business objectives. Additionally, they collaborate closely with internal Cisco Engineering teams to advocate for customer needs and share upcoming innovations.
Responsibilities
- Engage directly with customers to deliver value by driving outcome-based collaboration, product adoption, and contract renewals.
- Provide ongoing Day-2 support for Cisco products and solutions, utilizing deep technical knowledge, AI-driven tools, strategic guidance, and innovative approaches to ensure high performance and customer satisfaction.
- Act as a central contact for proactive identification and resolution of issues involving Cisco technologies.
- Develop and present technical documentation and recommendations that support client engagements, promote solution uptake, and enable self-service capabilities.
- Create clear, well-structured customer-facing deliverables that adhere to CX team standards.
- Leverage AI and automation to improve service delivery efficiency, foster innovation, and focus on high-impact tasks.
- Contribute to collective knowledge-building by developing templates, automation scripts, and intellectual assets that enhance Cisco’s delivery methodologies and processes.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Between 2 and 4 years of experience in technical consulting, network design, deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of routing and switching protocols including IGP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, STP, RSTP, VTP, VSS, vPC, VDC, MSTP, LACP, VLAN, and VXLAN.
- Experience with Cisco routing and switching platforms such as Cisco ISR 1800/1900/2900/3900/4000 series routers, ASR 1000, Catalyst 9000, 6500, 6800, and 4500 series.
- Proven track record working with medium to large-scale enterprise networks.
- Skills in installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and/or network solution design for Cisco routers and switches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities suitable for conveying technology strategy and architectural concepts to engineers, executives, and clients.
- Must hold a CCNP certification; CCIE (Routing & Switching) is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams in a matrix environment to achieve goal-oriented plans and execution.
- Experience leading customer workshops and performing both high-level and detailed network design is advantageous.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies such as Software Defined Access (SDA) and SD-WAN.
- Knowledge of Nexus Switches or Cisco security products is desirable.
- Skills in AI/ML and network automation using tools like Python, Ansible, GoLang, or Splunk are preferred.
