Job description
Role Summary
The Computer Operations Manager is responsible for leading daily technical operations, coordinating IT service delivery, and managing support personnel across diverse enterprise platforms. This role ensures continuous operational support, compliance with service level agreements (SLAs), system performance optimization, and oversees IT asset lifecycle management. Additionally, the manager handles advanced support for computer hardware, user issues, networks, and telephony while driving strategies for improvement and disaster recovery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Organize and direct technical team workloads, project timelines, system monitoring, and incident management.
- Lead and mentor supervisors and technical staff, including performance assessments, trainings, and succession planning.
- Manage deployment, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle of IT assets such as desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and servers.
- Develop and maintain IT service management processes covering incident, problem, change, and service requests.
- Coordinate enterprise-wide software deployments, updates, and patch management.
- Monitor service desk queues and system performance to guarantee timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Deliver advanced technical support across hardware, software, network, and telephony issues with thorough documentation.
- Ensure compliance with operational policies, security protocols, and regulations.
- Work with infrastructure and application teams for technology integration and business continuity planning.
- Travel to remote sites as necessary to resolve technical problems and deploy IT resources.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum seven years’ practical IT experience in multi-platform environments.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent technical certification) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or comparable work experience.
- Proven skills in IT service delivery, asset management, complex troubleshooting, network support, and enterprise software rollouts.
- Strong leadership qualities including initiative, decision-making, problem-solving, communication, customer service, and team development.
- Physical ability to lift weight up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and moving in various weather conditions.
Additional Information
- Work schedule is Monday to Friday with flexible hours between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, including rotational or on-call shifts.
- Requires 25-40% travel between operational locations.
- Position is fully on-site with no telecommuting options.
- Engagement is long-term contract from ASAP until June 30, 2028, with potential contract renewal.
