Overview
The Community Information Officer position at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) is a fixed-term role based at the 19 Hills Health and Wellbeing Centre in Newport, Wales. The centre centralizes various health and community services including General Medical Services, Community Dentistry, Social Care, and Third Sector support. This role aims to support local patients and community members by facilitating access to services and encouraging wellbeing activities tailored to the locality's needs, while addressing health inequalities and fostering community engagement.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist patients and the public in accessing a range of services and provide information and support directly from the 19 Hills HWBC.
- Stimulate and coordinate activities within the Health and Wellbeing Centre responsive to community demands by engaging with stakeholders and partner organizations.
- Promote innovation in creating a vibrant, inclusive, and safe environment that meets diverse user needs.
- Support the development of local knowledge and skills, applying community asset-based approaches and contributing to the Place Based Well-being Collaborative to actively involve local populations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential: General education at GCSE level, NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent proven experience and knowledge.
- Desirable: Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Experience in community settings involving effective engagement with individuals and the public.
- Experience collecting monitoring data and producing public-facing communication materials.
- Understanding of health inequalities and barriers facing communities.
- Desirable experience in community development approaches and safeguarding procedures knowledge.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Strong customer service orientation focused on community needs.
- Effective communication skills adaptable to different audiences; confident and approachable.
- Proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
- Self-driven, enthusiastic, proactive, creative, and innovative mindset.
- Welsh language ability is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
Additional Information
The post is offered on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2027, subject to funding availability. Candidates applying for secondment positions must obtain authorization from their current line manager before applying.
