Role Overview
A leading financial technology client is seeking a proactive and independent Communications Editor/Proofreader to assist in creating, refining, and perfecting various customer-facing communications. These include transactional emails, SMS messages, notifications, and servicing disclosures. The role focuses on making complex fintech information approachable and user-friendly, ensuring clarity, empathy, and actionable content in customer outreach.
Key Responsibilities and Approach
- Ensure all outbound communications are clear, concise, fully compliant with regulations, and consistent with the brand voice.
- Edit and proofread messages to uphold high standards of grammar, style, and tone, adhering to AP style guidelines.
- Translate technical product updates into customer-friendly alerts and communications.
- Customize messaging for different audiences and platforms, including push notifications and formal emails.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail across a large volume of communications, adapting to fast-paced and shifting priorities.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as Product, Operations, Legal, and Compliance for message accuracy and compliance.
Required Skills and Tools
- Excellent written communication skills with strong command of grammar, tone, and editorial style.
- Expertise in editing, proofreading, and refining digital-first content.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), including Track Changes and version control.
- Experience working with collaboration platforms like SharePoint, Slack, Teams, or project management tools.
Preferred Experience
- Background in managing B2C customer communications is advantageous.
- Capability to support operational improvements and document communication workflows and SOPs.
- Skills in project coordination, deadline management, and ensuring timely communication launches alongside product updates.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to simplify complex data-driven information.
- Prior experience in fintech, financial services, or regulated industries with an understanding of compliance review processes is highly beneficial.
Compensation Details
The expected hourly pay range for this position is between $25 and $29, dependent on factors such as educational background, relevant professional experience, certifications, and location.
