Position Overview
The Clerk - Reservations at Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts is responsible for handling all reservation inquiries received through phone, fax, or mail. The role involves identifying guest requirements, confirming the availability of rooms and rates, and explaining policies regarding guarantees, special rates, and cancellations. This position demands precise documentation of special requests and answers to queries about hotel amenities and accommodations while maximizing revenue through effective sales techniques.
Core Duties
- Process incoming reservation requests, modifications, and cancellations promptly.
- Determine suitable room types based on guest needs and verify availability accurately.
- Communicate clearly about policies including guarantees, special rates, and cancellation terms.
- Handle special requests, ensuring they are properly recorded in the reservation system.
- Apply correct codes for special room types such as complimentary stays, staff discounts, or travel agent rates.
- Address guest concerns appropriately, escalating issues when necessary.
- Maintain compliance with all organizational policies and uphold a professional appearance and conduct.
- Protect the confidentiality of proprietary information and safeguard the privacy and security of guests and colleagues.
- Follow company customer service standards by warmly welcoming guests, anticipating their needs, assisting those with disabilities, and expressing gratitude genuinely.
- Communicate professionally, including proper telephone etiquette.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve shared objectives and respond attentively to staff concerns.
- Adhere to quality assurance standards and maintain the ability to lift or move items of up to 10 pounds independently.
- Perform additional assigned duties as directed by supervisors.
Qualifications
- Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- No prior related work or supervisory experience is required.
- No specific licenses or certifications necessary.
