Overview

An employer partner is hiring a CTO for a Saudi Arabia-based opportunity. The hiring and follow-up steps are handled by that partner company. This is a senior leadership role for someone who can steer the technology direction of an ambitious open-source virtual world built on decentralized infrastructure.

As Chief Technology Officer, you will shape the technical roadmap, put in place scalable engineering practices, and guide the growth of a next-generation multiplayer platform. The role is fully remote and spread across multiple geographies, requiring a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on technical depth. You will work closely with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders while building a strong, high-performing engineering culture.

Key Accountabilities

Set the overall technology direction and make sure engineering work stays aligned with long-term product goals.
Lead the design and ongoing improvement of scalable architecture, front-end systems, and technical foundations that can support platform growth.
Create and refine production-grade engineering workflows, covering system administration, infrastructure, security, and operational discipline.
Recruit, coach, and develop a strong engineering team by encouraging collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement.
Manage engineering planning, resource distribution, and priorities so delivery stays efficient and on schedule.
Work with stakeholders across functions to evolve product features while protecting technical quality and performance.
Assess new technologies and introduce modern practices across development, deployment, and operations.
Lead architecture reviews, drive code quality standards, and make high-level technical decisions for complex challenges.

Requirements

At least 5 years of game development experience, including proven success in a senior technical leadership or technology management position.
Demonstrated ability to grow engineering teams, set up development processes, and own technology strategy in fast-moving or early-stage companies.
Strong command of Three.js, React, Solidity, JavaScript, and C++, along with solid architecture and system design skills.
Good understanding of multiplayer systems, real-time applications, distributed architectures, and modern web technologies.
Background in infrastructure, system administration, application security, and production operations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to guide and mentor teams effectively.
Comfort working remotely with globally distributed teams while balancing several technical priorities at once.
Experience across multiple programming languages is a plus.
Prior work on a custom game engine or advanced game engine development is a strong advantage.
