Role Summary
The Bids & Proposals Manager will take ownership of the bid process, coordinating contributors, guiding proposal development, and helping produce high-quality submissions that are commercially strong, compliant, and strategically positioned to win.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the bid team by identifying contributors across the business, briefing them effectively, and keeping them engaged, supported, and aligned throughout the proposal timeline.
- Review bid submissions for quality, commercial strength, and legal compliance.
- Gather insight into client priorities and goals, then share that intelligence with the wider pursuit team.
- Assist business line leaders with bid planning, go/no-go discussions, opportunity conversion, pursuit planning, and bid schedule tracking.
- Help shape bid-winning approaches by drawing on lessons, content, and tactics from successful past proposals.
- Coordinate proposal responses in partnership with technical leaders and the marketing team.
- Translate bid needs into clear and actionable requirements for all contributors.
- Control document versions and route bid materials to the correct people for review, approval, and signature within required deadlines.
- Promote a professional and efficient approach within the bid team and across the business lines supported.
- Maintain CVs, including staff thumbnail images, and keep them updated for bid use.
- Manage the project pipeline so opportunities are properly captured, pursued, and maximized to support fee conversion and monthly source-of-revenue analysis.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of bid management experience in similar sectors or industries, with a track record of leading major or strategic bids.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills, with experience handling complex, multi-disciplinary proposals of significant strategic value.
- Practical working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe InDesign.
- A flexible yet organized approach to supporting bidding activity across multiple business lines.
- The professionalism and interpersonal strength to build trust and credibility with colleagues at all levels.
- The ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and tactfully secure inputs from others when required.
- Comfort working under pressure while still meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards, and the ability to encourage others to do the same.
- Strong multitasking ability and an efficient, organized working style.
Additional Information
