Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Supervise the setup, operation, maintenance, and enhancement of all audiovisual equipment including sound systems, lighting, LED displays, projectors, video conferencing solutions, control systems, IPTV, digital signage, and entertainment technologies.
- Ensure AV devices are kept in excellent operational condition via proactive maintenance schedules and periodic technical inspections.
- Plan and coordinate audiovisual needs for conferences, meetings, entertainment events, VIP functions, and special occasions.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and support during event execution to guarantee seamless operations and swiftly resolve any technical difficulties.
- Manage stage preparations such as sound checks, lighting programming, wireless microphone setups, DMX addressing, and accommodate artist technical requests.
- Maintain comprehensive records of AV system configurations, inventories, and maintenance activities.
- Lead and mentor the audiovisual team including supervisors and technicians, fostering their development through coaching and training.
- Create staff schedules aligned with business and event demands while managing resource allocation efficiently.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals and identify opportunities for team skill enhancement.
- Promote a workplace culture emphasizing collaboration, accountability, innovation, and exceptional service standards.
- Support ongoing hotel renovations, system upgrades and new projects related to audiovisual technologies.
- Evaluate emerging AV innovations and recommend improvements to boost operating efficiency, reliability, and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee AV-related capital expenditure projects from initial planning through to implementation phases.
- Prepare and control the department's annual operational and capital budgets.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure cost-effective use of resources.
- Manage vendor relations by sourcing, negotiating, and contracting with AV suppliers, service providers, and contractors.
- Ensure timely purchasing of AV equipment, spare parts, and required technical services.
- Adhere to hotel policies, Operational Standards Manual, ISO Integrated Management Systems, and all safety regulations.
- Implement and maintain safe working procedures for AV equipment operation, installation, and upkeep.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and address any identified hazards promptly.
- Collaborate closely with Entertainment, Events, Sales, Banqueting, Operations, and IT teams to deliver outstanding AV experiences.
- Support the successful execution of guest functions, conferences, shows, and corporate events.
- Ensure AV services consistently meet guest expectations and uphold brand quality standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least 2 years’ experience working within engineering departments at luxury properties.
- Strong interpersonal skills coupled with effective problem-solving capabilities.
- Highly organized with excellent planning and goal-oriented mindset.
- Analytical thinking, leadership qualities, and ability to develop team members are critical.
- International work experience is considered a valuable asset.
