Automotive Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Engineer for a remote contract position based in Germany, lasting 12 months. This role requires a deep knowledge of automotive components and the ability to support client workshops, review specifications, and conduct technical cost analyses.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and review engineering specifications to detect instances of over-engineering.
• Question engineering assumptions as well as testing timelines and certification needs.
• Identify opportunities to reduce technical costs effectively.
• Assist in sizing and quantifying identified cost reduction opportunities.
• Evaluate the feasibility of proposed engineering changes.
• Contribute to De-risking to Validation (DtV) processes and facilitate module workshops.
• Convert technical knowledge into practical and actionable recommendations for clients.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• 10 to 20 years of practical experience in automotive engineering.
• Previous roles such as Engineering Manager, Team Lead, Module Owner, Component Owner, or Senior Technical Specialist.
• Background experience from working within Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) or Tier-1 suppliers.
• Specialized expertise in one or more specific automotive components or modules.
• Experience covering the entire product lifecycle from concept development through validation, industrialization, and Start of Production (SOP).
• Proven ability to collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams, including engineering and procurement.
• Confidence in engaging in technical workshops alongside client engineering personnel.

Additional Information

This is a contract role with a 12-month duration, and the work will be fully remote based out of Germany.
