About the Role
The Associate Project Manager is entrusted with overseeing assigned projects from start to finish, ensuring they are executed within established scope, budget, and timelines. This role focuses on high-quality, cost-efficient, and timely delivery of projects while maintaining strict control over every aspect. Reporting directly to the Manager of Programs, the Associate Project Manager coordinates various project elements and teams to meet business objectives efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead overall project safety by reviewing and approving contractors' safety plans, ensuring adherence to OSHA regulations, corporate policies, and Facilities Asset Management standards.
- Manage all phases of project development including design, planning, budget tracking, cash flow reporting, and maintaining detailed documentation.
- Drive scope definition, estimate reviews, schedule development, and secure funding approvals prior to execution.
- Maintain close control of project timelines to align with client expectations and minimize operational disruptions.
- Form and guide integrated project teams, fostering collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to meet project goals.
- Maintain constructive relationships with clients, business units, and other partners, ensuring projects align with intended business outcomes.
- Support contract administration including defining work scope, cost elements, alternative bids, and operational constraints.
- Oversee project schedules by identifying critical path tasks, ensuring contractor resource planning meets completion targets.
- Coordinate with operational teams and business partners to align project activities, communicate effectively on status, schedules, budgets, and guest impacts.
- Utilize construction management software and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for project administration and reporting.
- Manage financial aspects through timely issuance of field directives, change orders, and accurate forecasting while working with Project Controller on budget updates.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to refine processes, aiming for continuous performance enhancements and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Project or Construction Management or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience; alternatively, 2 years college with 8+ years hands-on project or construction experience.
- At least 4 years of project or construction management experience in hospitality, commercial, or industrial sectors; theme park construction is advantageous.
- Proven expertise in managing portfolios of projects exceeding $4 million annually including accounting, budgeting, estimating, scheduling, document control, contract management, and cost forecasting.
- Strong familiarity with construction materials, methods, and applicable codes such as UBC, NEC, and UFC.
- Exceptional communication skills for preparing presentations and engaging all organizational levels.
- Excellent organizational detail orientation and leadership capabilities.
- Proficient with Windows OS and Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong problem-solving ability and customer service focus.
- Competent in identifying project risks and formulating mitigation strategies.
Preferred Education and Skills
- MBA in Project or Construction Management or related field.
- Knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Access, and PMWeb project management software.

The salary range in California is $104,800 to $128,000 per annum, with final pay dependent on experience, skills, location, and internal equity.
