Job Overview
Iron County is looking for a Licensed Appraiser to join the Iron County Assessor's Office in Parowan, Utah. Candidates with a license and relevant experience may be eligible for salary credit of up to 10 years of directly related job experience. The position can also be filled at a lower wage as an Appraiser Trainee.
This opportunity is a full-time career service role, involving complex technical responsibilities throughout the valuation process—from initial data gathering to defending assessed property values. The role requires performing inspections, classifications, appraisals, and valuations of real estate across the county for Ad Valorem tax purposes, adhering to industry-standard procedures and professional ethics.
Work is split between office settings and extensive fieldwork. Field visits may involve various building types, construction sites, rugged outdoor terrain, and differing weather conditions. Physical activities include climbing, walking, sitting, kneeling, and bending to access properties and acquire necessary data to accomplish core duties.

- Applicants without full licensure may be considered for an Appraiser Trainee role at a lower pay scale.
- Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License for operating county vehicles when assessing properties countywide.
- Required to obtain and maintain certification via state-approved continuing education every two years.
