Application Engineer - Diesel Power Generators

About the Role

Weichai Singapore Pte Ltd seeks an enthusiastic and detail-focused Application Engineer specializing in diesel power generation systems. This role is pivotal in supporting product development through comprehensive testing, validation, and inter-department collaboration to ensure superior performance and durability of diesel-powered generators.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and maintain thorough test protocols aligned with design and operational specifications specific to diesel power generators.
• Supervise and execute performance and reliability testing, ensuring compliance with industry benchmarks.
• Identify and meticulously record any anomalies or defects arising during testing, facilitating prompt remedies.
• Collaborate intensively with engineering and design teams to diagnose and resolve generator design or functional challenges.
• Provide expert technical guidance to cross-functional teams to enhance product reliability and rectify faults.
• Keep precise documentation of testing outcomes, defect reports, and corrective measures taken.
• Generate detailed reports that discuss observations, remedial actions, and suggestions for process enhancement.
• Contribute to early-stage product development by advising on design improvements and efficient operations.
• Ensure rigorous testing completion before manufacturing handover or customer delivery.
• Advance continuous improvement initiatives by embedding best practices in testing and quality assurance processes.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and technology in diesel engine and power generation fields to recommend innovative testing approaches.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline, or relevant equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience in applications engineering, testing, or quality control, especially within diesel power generator contexts or related systems.
• Deep understanding of diesel engine functions, performance indicators, and fault troubleshooting.
• Proficient in developing test strategies, conducting tests, and performing root cause analysis on technical problems.
• Strong analytical thinking skills paired with excellent teamwork capabilities.
• Knowledgeable about regulatory standards and compliance applicable to power generation equipment.
• Exceptional attention to detail coupled with effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Capacity to work autonomously while handling multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Hands-on experience with product lifecycle management systems and automated testing software.
• Relevant certification or specialized training focused on diesel engine technology or power generation solutions.
• Understanding of electrical systems, power electronics, and controls related to generators.
