Overview
MTN Ghana is seeking a full-time Digital Forensics Analyst based in Accra within the Internal Audit & Forensics division. This role supports fraud detection, cyber-incident investigations, and prevention by conducting forensic examinations compliant with global forensic standards and MTN's Fraud Risk Management framework, ensuring digital evidence integrity and admissibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out forensic evidence acquisition, preservation, and analysis across computers, mobile devices, servers, cloud services, and network logs.
- Maintain rigorous chain of custody protocols with techniques such as write-blocking and hashing to secure evidence.
- Use industry-standard forensic software (e.g., Cellebrite, EnCase, FTK, Axiom, X-Ways) for data recovery, including deleted or encrypted information.
- Perform complex memory analysis, timeline reconstruction, and malware assessment when necessary.
- Lead or contribute to sophisticated fraud investigations involving employee and vendor fraud, revenue loss, and cyber-fraud cases.
- Design investigation strategies, collect documentary and testimonial evidence, conduct interviews, and generate detailed investigative reports with recommendations.
- Manage and analyze the Fraud Incident Register to identify trends and emerging risks.
- Produce clear forensic reports suitable for management review, legal actions, and disciplinary hearings, including expert witness testimony if required.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and legal teams for criminal prosecutions or civil recoveries.
- Apply advanced data analytics skills (SQL, Python, ACL, Power BI) to detect anomalies and suspicious patterns.
- Work alongside IT Security and Cyber Defense groups to align forensic processes with incident response.
- Adhere to the ACFE Code of Professional Ethics and MTN’s fraud management policies.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay abreast of new forensic technologies, cyber threats, and legal changes, supporting improvements in forensic practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity, IT, or related fields; alternatively, Accounting/Finance graduates with digital forensic training.
- Professional certifications such as CFCE, EnCE, CCME (Cellebrite), GCFA, CHFI, or equivalencies; CFE certification highly preferred; CISSP or CISM advantageous.
- At least 3 years' experience in digital forensics, fraud investigation, or information security with corporate, law enforcement, or professional services backgrounds.
Professional Competencies
- Expertise in forensic processes including imaging, mobile extraction, cloud and memory forensics, file carving, and artifact analysis using tools like Cellebrite UFED, EnCase, FTK, and Axiom.
- Strong knowledge of fraud case management, investigation methods, evidence evaluation, suspect interviewing, and reporting.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, ACL, IDEA, Power BI, CAATs, and investigative data analytics.
- Solid understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS), networking, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), cybersecurity basics, and IT infrastructure.
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory frameworks including criminal procedure, data privacy, telecom regulations, and standards such as COSO, COBIT 5, and King III.
- Audit standards and internal control knowledge relevant to financial and operational reviews.
- Insight into telecommunications industry operations, performance factors, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with eGRC platforms and incident management workflows.
