Role Summary

Under the supervision of qualified Social Workers and management, Allied Support Workers play a supportive role aimed at enhancing outcomes for children, young people, and families. This non-regulated capacity does not involve holding a social work caseload or undertaking regulated social work activities but focuses on assisting social workers with various operational and administrative needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering day-to-day operational support at the site on an as-needed basis aligned with team requirements.
• Assisting social workers with data entry into CYRAS and other information management systems.
• Providing safe transport for tamariki and rangatahi to appointments, schools, and extracurricular activities.
• Supporting set up and administrative preparations for Family Group Conferences (FGCs).
• Helping care for children and young people during out-of-school hours or while awaiting placements.
• Coordinating administrative arrangements related to placements and program transitions.
• Assisting integration or reintegration of tamariki and rangatahi at school.
• Conducting supervised client visits, including driving, supervising interactions, and documenting visit notes; may require some weekend and after-hours availability.
• Building cooperative relationships with colleagues and external partners to facilitate seamless service delivery.

Candidate Profile

This trusted, safety-sensitive children’s support role demands sound judgment, resilience, and dependability. Ideal candidates possess experience in community support roles, particularly with Māori and Pasifika cultures, and demonstrate empathy in emotionally charged contexts. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders are essential.

Qualifications and Other Requirements

Compensation and Development
