Caregiver Counseling Internship

About the Internship

This internship provides an opportunity to engage deeply in caregiver support for cancer patients by conducting thorough needs assessments and psychosocial screenings of caregivers. Interns will facilitate supportive counseling aimed at managing stress, coping mechanisms, caregiver burnout, grief, bereavement, and fostering effective communication with patients.

Confidentiality will be paramount as interns maintain detailed counseling records and documentation. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team—including psychologists, psychiatrists, oncologists, nurses, and medical social workers—is essential to ensure comprehensive patient care and support. Interns will contribute to crisis intervention, referral processes, and the development of educational tools to aid caregiver understanding and resilience.

Participation in case discussions, supervision sessions, and departmental meetings forms a critical part of the learning experience. Additionally, interns will assist in data collection, audits, research, and evaluate outcomes related to psycho-oncology services.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be available full-time at the Mumbai office for the entire six-month duration.
• The internship should commence between July 29, 2026, and September 2, 2026.
• Candidates should possess relevant skills or interest in counseling and emotional intelligence.
• Preference for candidates holding or pursuing a master's degree in psychology, counseling, clinical psychology, or related fields.
• Experience through prior internships or volunteering in counseling, hospitals, NGOs, or mental health settings is advantageous.
• Strong interest in psycho-oncology, palliative care, or caregiver mental health is highly desirable.

Stipend and Perks

• A monthly stipend of INR 5,000 is provided.
