About the Role
The role is focused on testing and validating the zADE (System z Advanced Development Environment), a software emulator for System z processors operating on Intel architecture. This emulator supports development, testing, education, and demonstrations but is not designed for production use.
Key Responsibilities
The candidate will engage as part of a global team to conduct quality assurance for zADE software products, implement test automation, and execute system tests within Linux environments. The role involves collaborating with engineering teams to run test workloads and ensure software quality.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5 to 10 years of IT experience
- Extensive experience (4+ years) with Linux installations such as Ubuntu, SLES, and RHEL, including KVM hypervisor, filesystem management, networking, virtual machines, and system administration
- Proficient in executing system test buckets, test procedures, debugging, crash analysis, and log/dump collection
- Strong scripting and automation expertise using Shell scripting, Python, Ansible, and Jenkins
- Working knowledge of Git and Gerrit
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills within multicultural and cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of multiple processor architectures such as System s390 and x86
- Familiarity with zOS, zVM environments, and testing programs on zOS
- Knowledge of z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE, and Linux on Z
- Experience with open-source projects and development tools
- Knowledge of virtualization, networking, and cloud container technologies
