Role Overview
As a Payroll Manager, you will oversee and guide our expanding payroll team, managing daily operations for the organization's client-facing payroll functions. Your leadership will support payroll specialists, associates, and assistants in delivering accurate and timely payroll services.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage payroll processing activities as required and handle the assignment of new clients.
- Conduct training sessions and meetings for payroll team members.
- Lead recruitment efforts including interviews, and conduct performance evaluations with coaching support.
- Serve as a mentor and leader in operational initiatives to promote excellence within the team.
- Train new employees and clients on payroll systems, procedures, company policies, and best practices.
- Develop and enhance procedures to improve payroll processing accuracy and efficiency.
- Review payroll procedures regularly and recommend improvements.
- Ensure payroll is processed correctly and on schedule.
- Prepare detailed wage summaries covering earnings, taxes, deductions, leaves, retirement contributions, and benefits for clients and employees.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable and tax departments on processing voids for both current and previous years.
- Respond to and resolve payroll-related queries and issues.
- Analyze and rectify payroll discrepancies effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws.
- Support hiring processes, staff performance reviews, payroll adjustments, and disciplinary measures.
- Organize and lead monthly team meetings and maintain accountability for CRM cases and tasks completion.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Required certification: Fundamental Payroll Certification (FCP) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
- At least 10 years of experience in payroll processing.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Professional Employer Organization (PEO) or Administrative Services Organization (ASO) handling multi-state payroll.
- Experience with PRISM and HR Pyramid payroll systems is preferred.
