Role Description

This full-time, on-location position based in Kigali entails the responsibility of operating heavy commercial vehicles for timely and secure transportation of goods across Rwanda and East Africa. The truck driver must follow all road transport laws and company policies diligently.

The duties include performing vehicle inspections before and after trips, safely loading and securing cargo, completing necessary transport documentation accurately, and swiftly reporting any mechanical or incident-related issues. Coordinating with fleet, operations, and logistics teams is essential to ensure effective delivery and customer satisfaction, maintaining TRUK Rwanda's high operational standards. The role demands professionalism, discipline, and a strong safety commitment.

Candidate Requirements

• Must hold a valid Category E Driving License suitable for heavy commercial vehicles.
• Registration as a member of the Rwanda Drivers Syndicate, with valid proof.
• Possession of a valid National Identification Card.
• Submission of an updated CV and typed application letter.
• Valid Medical Certificate and a Clean Criminal Record Certificate.
• Minimum five years' professional commercial driving experience, including at least three years of cross-border driving.
• Clean driving record without serious violations or reckless driving incidents.
• Strong knowledge of road regulations and compliance requirements applicable in Rwanda and East Africa.
• Capability to safely handle cargo loading, securing, transporting, and unloading while preserving product quality.
• Proficiency in daily vehicle inspections and prompt maintenance reporting.
• Competency in using smartphones, GPS, and navigation tools.
• Effective communication skills in English, Kinyarwanda, and Swahili.
• Exemplary professionalism, reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
• Basic literacy and numeracy proficiency.
• Willingness to undertake extensive travel within Rwanda and neighboring East African countries.

Preferred Qualifications

• Possession of Defensive Driving and First Aid certificates.
• Experience operating refrigerated trucks related to cold chain logistics.
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting and vehicle maintenance skills.
• Background in transport, logistics, or freight operations.
• Strong familiarity with East African cross-border transport procedures and customs documentation.
• Experience working with electronic trip logs or fleet management systems.
