Truck Driver

Job Overview

This position requires a Truck Driver to operate and manage transportation duties primarily on-site at various locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for carefully planning routes, handling goods, and ensuring vehicle safety and condition while adhering to all regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Strategically plan and modify travel routes using GPS and other navigation tools to optimize fuel efficiency and reduce carbon footprint.
• Load and unload cargo efficiently and securely.
• Drive and operate straight and articulated trucks to transport materials and goods.
• Conduct thorough inspections on vehicles including tires, lights, brakes, and refrigeration equipment before, during, and after trips.
• Maintain detailed records such as cargo manifests, driver logs, trip distances, and fuel usage.
• Ensure cargo safety through proper tarping and security measures.

Required Credentials and Qualifications

• Possession of a valid AZ class driver's license and Air Brakes Endorsement.
• Familiarity with transportation documentation including accident reports, bills of lading, dangerous goods reports, driver logbooks, and inspection reports.
• Experience operating tractor-trailers and using modern communication systems like GPS devices.
• Previous exposure to local, provincial, national, and short-haul trucking operations is beneficial.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• The work environment may be dusty and physically taxing requiring good physical endurance for repetitive tasks.
• Handling loads up to 9 kg (20 lbs) is necessary.

Additional Requirements and Personal Attributes

• Must hold a valid passport and possess basic security clearance along with passing drivers' license validity and driving record checks.
• Willingness to undertake extended and overnight travel is required.
• Essential personal qualities include attention to detail, organized approach, reliability, patience, teamwork ability, excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, flexibility, sound judgment, and a strong work ethic.
• Required to use personal protective equipment such as cellular phone, hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety vest, gloves, and other tools as necessary.
