Overview
We are seeking a driven and commercially astute Technical Commercial Analyst to join our team in Accra, Ghana. This role involves periodic travel to Dubai, UAE, and reports directly to the VP Commercial & Head of Trading with a dotted linkage to the Head of our Ghana office.
The ideal candidate will have a strong curiosity, energetic approach, and commercial mindset with the capacity to collaborate across departments. This position offers a unique chance to gain extensive exposure to physical oil trading, refinery operations, risk management, and senior leadership decision processes within a growing international energy firm.
Role Summary
This role is critical in supporting oil refinery processing and commercial operations in Ghana by serving as the liaison across various internal teams. The analyst will oversee information flow related to refinery processing agreements and ensure commercial performance is consistently monitored and optimized along the entire crude-to-product value chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Centralize coordination among Trading, Technical, Operations, Risk, Finance, and Sales teams to facilitate timely and precise data exchange.
- Track and review refinery and commercial activities to detect risks, delays, or inefficiencies that might affect profitability.
- Perform detailed analysis of refining outputs, inventory levels, sales commitments, and operational metrics to spot patterns, discrepancies, and areas for commercial improvement.
- Produce frequent reports and dashboards, including daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc, detailing crude processing, yields, exposures, and sales performance.
- Collaborate with risk management to guarantee accurate reflection of operational positions and exposures; contribute to forecasting inventories, production, and sales.
- Maintain data integrity for cash flow, foreign exchange exposure, and profit & loss reporting to aid management decisions.
- Continuously seek and implement process enhancements, improved reporting systems, and control frameworks to optimize operational workflows.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5 to 10 years of pertinent experience, preferably in oil trading, refining, logistics, commodities, or energy sectors.
- Proficient analytical and numerical aptitude with advanced Excel capabilities; familiarity with Power BI or comparable reporting platforms is beneficial.
- Exceptional attention to detail along with strong organizational and communication skills to effectively manage diverse stakeholder interactions.
