About the Role

The International Community Schools (ICS) Al Danah branch in Abu Dhabi is looking for a dedicated Teacher Assistant to join the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team, specifically supporting Cycle 1 (Kindergarten) students. This role is integral in assisting classroom teachers by creating a positive and engaging learning atmosphere for children aged 3 to 5 years, within the British curriculum framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide essential classroom support to teachers in a Cycle 1, KG environment.
  • Assist in organizing and preparing educational materials and classroom displays.
  • Operate basic classroom technology such as interactive whiteboards and tablets.
  • Engage constructively with children, parents, and staff to foster a supportive learning community.
  • Maintain proactive communication and collaborate effectively within the teaching team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred certifications include CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Early Years education, or relevant diplomas in education or teaching assistance.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience as a Teacher Assistant or similar role in Early Years or Key Stage 1 settings, ideally within a British curriculum school.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use classroom technology and office software such as MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills tailored to young learners and their families.
  • High levels of patience, empathy, and passion for working with young children.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to dynamic school environments and contribute positively to the school community.
  • Capacity to work both collaboratively and independently as needed.

Curriculum Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and its seven learning areas.
  • Familiarity with teaching strategies, assessment methods, and child safeguarding within the British education system.
  • Awareness of the transition process from EYFS to Key Stage 1.

Compliance and Local Requirements

  • Fulfillment of all Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) regulations for educational support staff, including necessary attestations and security clearances.
  • Adherence to ADEK policies on school management, curriculum delivery, and child safeguarding.
  • Respect for UAE's local culture and values.
  • Possession of a valid UAE residency visa or eligibility to obtain one, with the school's support for visa procedures.
