Overview
As the Supply Chain & Procurement Manager at Berwick Care, you will lead and enhance the daily operations of our supply services, ensuring the prompt, cost-efficient, and high-quality delivery of products to care homes. This position plays a crucial role in supporting clients by guaranteeing reliable supplies that facilitate safe, compliant, and effective care.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the complete procurement process from sourcing through to delivery.
- Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and service agreements with suppliers to secure favorable outcomes.
- Evaluate supplier performance with respect to agreed KPIs and standards, nurturing strong supplier relationships.
- Maintain precise inventory records, oversee stock control procedures, and analyze usage data to optimize forecasting and ordering.
- Administer logistics operations including warehousing, order picking, packing, and distribution, ensuring efficient scheduling and execution of deliveries.
- Oversee daily operational functions, aligning workflows to maintain high service quality while swiftly addressing issues to reduce disruptions.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations alongside quality standards pertinent to the care sector, carrying out regular audits and promoting a secure workplace.
- Build and sustain robust client relationships, responding promptly to concerns and leveraging feedback to enhance services.
- Manage operational budgets effectively, identifying cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing quality and supporting pricing strategy via thorough cost assessments.
- Lead and develop the operations team through clear objectives, coaching, and performance management, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Monitor performance KPIs, driving continuous process improvements aimed at increasing productivity and quality.
- Contribute to business growth by assisting in strategic planning, client onboarding, and expanding service offerings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum two years’ experience in procurement and inventory management.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relations.
- At least two years of leadership or team management experience, demonstrating ability to motivate and cultivate personnel.
- Proficiency with IT systems such as Microsoft Office and order/stock management software.
- Basic knowledge of accounting and finance principles.
- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
- Preferred experience in logistics and working within healthcare, care supplies, or other regulated sectors.
- Familiarity with compliance and quality standards in care environments.
- Experience with ERP or inventory management software.
- Formal management certification (e.g., ILM, CMI) and competence in contract and business process improvement methodologies.
- Strong client and supplier relationship management skills, customer service knowledge, and awareness of health and safety in warehouse settings.
- Possession of a valid UK driving license.
Remuneration and Benefits
- Annual salary ranging between £55,000 and £75,000.
