Supplier Quality Engineer

About the Role

Nextpower is seeking a skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to enhance supplier quality management as part of our drive toward global clean energy solutions. This role requires conducting supplier qualification audits, managing production part approval processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven analysis and quality methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform supplier qualification audits aligned with established procedures for new suppliers.
• Coordinate with the New Product Introduction team to issue PPAP requests within Arena system.
• Conduct on-site supplier visits for PPAP audits to review processes, identify required actions, and collaborate with suppliers for timely closure of issues.
• Gather and assess quality documentation from suppliers ensuring compliance with reference standards and submit on schedule to customers.
• Execute routine process audits at supplier sites and assist in resolving all non-conformities with suppliers.
• Assist the Quality Manager in tracking and reporting supplier product quality and performance metrics.
• Authorize Material Dispatch Clearance Certificates (MDCC) post verification and maintain all shipment documentation records electronically.
• Generate monthly reports summarizing part quality, product issues, and document compliance to management.
• Conduct site visits for critical quality problems, collect data for root cause investigation, and implement corrective/preventive measures.
• Utilize 8D methodology to analyze Non-Conformance Reports with suppliers.
• Provide quality tools training to supplier teams to enhance understanding and adherence.
• Contribute proactively towards continual improvement in part quality and operational performance by identifying problem areas and waste reduction strategies.
• Innovate automation solutions for documentation and internal processes.
• Apply Six Sigma principles to drive process improvements enhancing product quality.
• Participate in sustainable engineering efforts by evaluating new requirements using customer feedback (VOC) and industry best practices.
• Commit to travel approximately 70% of the time to supplier locations, project sites, and customers.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6 to 8 years of extensive experience in supplier quality management.
• Certification as Six Sigma Green Belt.
• Strong proficiency with quality tools including 8D, 5 Why analysis, SPC, Pareto charts, and root cause analysis.
• Certification as internal auditor for QMS, IATF, or VDA standards.
• In-depth knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and supplier qualification procedures.
• Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Skilled in data analytics and reporting using software like Power BI and Minitab.
• Ability to plan and prioritize tasks effectively under varying conditions.
• Motivated to learn continuously and apply new learnings for process enhancements.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in English; familiarity with local language is an advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
