SQL Server Database Administrator (Azure Cloud) - Night Shift India

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator skilled in Azure Cloud environments to manage and support critical SQL Server databases for US-based clients. The position requires working night shifts aligned with US business hours and is preferred for candidates based in Tamil Nadu, India.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Microsoft SQL Server environments including versions 2016, 2019, and 2022.
• Administer Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server deployed on Azure Virtual Machines.
• Handle database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backups, and restoration procedures.
• Implement and maintain high availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, Replication, Log Shipping, and Disaster Recovery strategies.
• Monitor and enhance SQL Server performance through query tuning, index optimization, and execution plan analysis.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues including blocking, deadlocks, and performance bottlenecks.
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 production support and incident management.
• Use tools like ServiceNow, Jira, or Azure DevOps for incident and service request management.
• Prepare weekly status reports, root cause analysis (RCA) documents, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
• Automate routine database administration tasks with T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
• Collaborate effectively with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to ensure smooth database operations.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
• Proficient with SQL Server versions 2016, 2019, and 2022 administration.
• Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Experience managing SQL Server instances on Azure Virtual Machines.
• Strong capabilities in performance tuning and query optimization.
• Expertise in backup, restore, and disaster recovery techniques.
• Solid knowledge of Always On Availability Groups.
• Competence in database security and user management.
• Experience with SQL Server Agent Jobs management.
• Skilled in scripting using PowerShell or T-SQL.
• Familiar with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics tools.
• Proven track record in production support at Level 2 / Level 3.
• Competency in handling tickets through ServiceNow, Jira, or Azure DevOps.
• Adept at creating weekly reports and maintaining thorough documentation.

• DP-900 – Azure Data Fundamentals
