Job Overview
This role holds an exemption from the federal civilian hiring freeze. As a special agent at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), you will leverage your analytical mindset and problem-solving skills to contribute to national security. You will utilize your engineering knowledge to support investigations related to violent crime, cyberattacks, terrorism, fraud, and other emerging threats.
How Engineering Skills Translate
Your engineering background has sharpened your ability to analyze information, understand complex algorithms, and work with technologies such as JavaScript, MATLAB, and HTML. You are experienced with deep learning and machine learning frameworks, demonstrating adaptability and sound decision-making. At the FBI, this foundation will evolve into interpreting evidence and driving investigative insights.
Major Responsibilities
- Plan and carry out investigations into alleged federal law violations including cybersecurity and public safety concerns.
- Apply critical judgment and resourcefulness to meet the varied demands of investigations.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with law enforcement agencies at federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international levels.
- Maintain physical fitness standards to fulfill law enforcement duties effectively.
Qualifications and Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
- Eligibility and ability to obtain Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance.
- Willingness to travel as necessary for duties.
- Fulfillment of all FBI employment eligibility prerequisites.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in engineering or a related discipline, from an accredited U.S. institution. Degree verification through official transcripts is required.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this opportunity is $93,749 to $133,200 annually, adjusted for base, locality, and availability considerations.
