Role Overview
We seek passionate Software Engineers eager to develop high-quality products that address significant customer challenges. As a Software Engineer at Forage, you will engage in the full product development lifecycle—from gathering requirements and designing technical solutions to implementing, testing, deploying, and iterating on features. Collaboration with Product, Design, Solutions Engineering, and fellow engineers is essential for delivering dependable, scalable systems that directly serve customers.
The position is open to candidates ranging from mid-level contributors to senior and staff-level technical leaders, with exact placement decided through the interview process evaluating experience, technical skill, and proven impact.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Track record of building and shipping production software in fast-paced environments.
- Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals including system design, testing, and debugging.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and cross-functional teamwork abilities.
- Enthusiasm for creating exceptional customer experiences through product development.
Preferred Technical Knowledge
- Proficiency in Python and Django framework.
- Experience with TypeScript, React, and React Native.
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS and RESTful APIs.
- Understanding of distributed systems architecture.
- Hands-on with AWS cloud services and CI/CD processes using modern development methods.
Career Level Expectations
- Intermediate Engineer (L2–L3): Independently delivers features and projects; contributes to technical design discussions; collaborates effectively across teams.
- Senior Engineer (L4): Leads medium to large projects; drives technical decisions within their domain; mentors other engineers and enhances engineering practices.
- Staff Engineer (L5): Leads cross-functional technical initiatives; influences architectural and engineering strategy; elevates the engineering organization through leadership and mentorship.
Employment Details
This role primarily follows a hybrid work model based in New York or San Francisco, requiring 2-3 days per week on-site. Remote work within North America is considered case-by-case.
Salary ranges from $125,000 to $225,000 USD base pay, excluding equity and benefits, which are meaningful parts of total compensation. Benefits include full premium coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents.
