Role Overview
As a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks, you will play a key role supporting the store manager in managing store operations during your scheduled shifts. Leading the team, you will assign tasks and coordinate partners to deliver the signature Starbucks Experience through exceptional customer service, efficient service, quality product delivery, and upholding a clean, welcoming store atmosphere. Upholding Starbucks' core values and principles will be integral to your daily responsibilities. Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and knowledge aligned with Starbucks' mission and values.
- Maintain composure during busy or unexpected situations, ensuring smooth store operation and serving as a positive role model for the shift team.
- Proactively observe customer and store needs to anticipate requirements.
- Relay important information to the store manager so the team can maintain the welcoming “Third Place” environment each shift.
- Assist in onboarding and training new partners by reinforcing positive behaviors and offering supportive coaching.
- Provide constructive feedback and performance insights to the store manager concerning shift partners.
- Enhance team morale by identifying and communicating any shifts in partner attitude or performance.
- Foster a learning culture through respectful, timely coaching to ensure operational excellence.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by prioritizing customer needs and forging genuine connections.
- Identify and address customer preferences and queries promptly.
- Build positive relationships with team members by understanding their motivations and concerns.
- Manage store operations during your assigned shifts effectively.
- Oversee assigned opening and closing procedures.
- Adhere to Starbucks’ operational guidelines, including cash handling, safety, and security to protect all partners.
- Ensure proper cash management practices are followed by the team during shifts.
- Monitor and support baristas in delivering top-tier customer service.
- Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Consistently prepare quality beverages, coffee beans, and food products following recipe and presentation standards.
- Comply with health, safety, and sanitation standards across all products.
- Recognize and celebrate individual and team successes using existing recognition tools and in coordination with the store manager.
- Leverage operational resources to achieve shift excellence.
Experience and Skills Required
- Prior customer service experience within retail or restaurant settings.
- Capability to lead and direct team members.
- Quick learner with effective verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with retail operations.
- Strong interpersonal abilities and teamwork orientation.
