About the Role and Team
The Shift Incharge for Vehicle Assembly will be positioned in Hosur, reporting directly to the Production Manager of Vehicle. This role operates within the Operations team, which oversees the entire vehicle production line. The primary objective is to ensure manufacturing excellence by consistently meeting daily production goals, upholding quality standards, and maintaining rigorous adherence to process compliance on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and regulate the hourly and daily output of the vehicle assembly line, ensuring clear communication of production plans to meet shift objectives.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance and line management efforts to resolve issues across manpower, machinery, materials, and methods, while targeting key operational metrics such as SPR, OEE, and reducing scrap costs.
- Maintain accuracy of physical and system inventory through active engagement in continuous audits.
- Manage employee attendance, address team concerns, and guide production leads to foster a motivated and healthy work environment.
- Implement and uphold 5S principles, ensure compliance with safety protocols including personal protective equipment use, and adhere to Integrated Management Systems by resolving audit non-conformances promptly.
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams, including Spec Ops, PEx, and Quality, to address production line stoppages, quality challenges, PFMEA reviews, and PQ/PPAP audits.
- Handle engineering change notices (ECN), oversee document change management, and validate First Time Right (FTR) for new product developments.
- Work alongside Talent Acquisition to assist with hiring, onboarding, and structured training of shop floor associates.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Production, Mechanical, or Automobile Engineering.
- Have between 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in the automobile or similar mass production industry.
Essential Competencies
- Proven capability in managing mass production assembly lines on the shop floor within the automotive sector.
- Application of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies in production environments.
- Expertise in new product development validation, PFMEA, and developing control plans.
- Conducting quality audits and maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 Integrated Management Systems.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with enterprise manufacturing software like SAP, JIRA, AutoCAD, and Factory CAD.
- Experience in designing and improving assembly tools aimed at enhancing production safety and efficiency.
- Managing engineering change notices effectively within ongoing production lines.
- Exposure to establishing operations or assembly lines for automotive greenfield projects.
