Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

A well-established principal contractor based in Wexford is looking to hire a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their project delivery division. This permanent full-time position offers the chance to manage project finances comprehensively, nurture less experienced team members, and advance your career within a supportive business environment.

Primary Duties

• Oversee commercial controls and risk management by conducting risk assessments, value management, and cost monitoring, with regular monthly updates on risks and strategies.
• Assist in setting procurement strategies and creating procurement timelines in coordination with Project and Commercial Managers.
• Prepare complete sub-contractor tendering documentation, validate quantities in Bills of Quantities using contemporary estimating software, and review market bids to recommend cost-effective sub-contractor selections.
• Administrate sub-contractor payment processes, manage claims, and finalize all sub-contract financial accounts including retention.
• Support the handling of the main contract through interim valuations, final account negotiations, and strict management and documentation of all contract variations according to conditions.
• Contribute to monthly cost reporting, including Cost Value Reconciliation reports, monitoring expenses related to subcontractors, preliminaries, materials, and cash flow management.
• Provide leadership by mentoring junior and assistant Quantity Surveyors, facilitating their growth and development.

Qualifications & Experience

• Possession of a B.Sc. degree in Construction Economics, Quantity Surveying, or similar field.
• Minimum of four years’ experience functioning in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role, demonstrating consistent delivery of intricate projects within financial limits.
• Professional accreditation such as MSCSI or MRICS membership, or active pursuit of the APC accreditation.
• Strong proficiency in IT, specifically Microsoft Office and specialized industry tools including Cubit, CostX, or COINS software.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities, proven in managing claims and evaluating the impacts of project delays and disruptions.
