Senior Manager – Pulpwood Procurement & Supply

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Manager to oversee pulpwood procurement and supply operations for our wood supply business based in Pune and Satara. This position involves managing procurement activities for mill-approved pulpwood species across Maharashtra, ensuring efficient supply chain coordination, and maintaining quality adherence to paper mill standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Sourcing pulpwood such as Subabul, Eucalyptus/Nilgiri, Casuarina/Suru, and other approved species tailored for paper mills.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with farmers, wood traders, harvesting contractors, and transport providers in Pune, Ahmednagar, Solapur, and Satara regions.
• Conducting inspections of standing trees, identifying species, estimating quantities, and negotiating purchase prices.
• Calculating comprehensive landed costs per metric ton of wood.
• Coordinating activities including cutting, billeting, labor deployment, loading, transportation, weighbridge operations, and delivery at the mill gate.
• Ensuring all wood supplied meets the strict quality standards set by paper mills to reduce rejections, deductions, and delays.
• Maintaining detailed daily records covering procurement details, vehicle movements, weights, costs, and payment schedules.
• Frequent travel within Maharashtra and occasional visits to Sirpur–Kagaznagar, Telangana, as required.

Candidate Requirements

• At least one year of hands-on experience in pulpwood or wood procurement.
• Prior exposure to working with paper mills or recognized paper mill wood suppliers is mandatory.
• Proven capability to manage large-volume wood procurement, supported by verifiable references.
• Comprehensive understanding of standing tree valuation, harvesting processes, logistics, and paper mill quality specifications.
• Fluency in Hindi is required; knowledge of Marathi is preferred, and Telugu language skills offer an advantage.
• Applicants with experience limited to furniture, plywood, or general purchasing roles are not suitable for this position.

Additional Information

• Employment Type: Full-time, field-based role.
• Primary Locations: Pune and Satara, Maharashtra.
• Probation duration: 3 months.
• Salary range: INR 30,000 to INR 50,000 per month.
