Location Overview
This role is based at a secluded resort in Beau Champ, Savanne, Mauritius, set beside a lagoon on the island’s east coast. The property features lush landscapes, private villas and residences with gardens and pools, resident giant tortoises, water sports, two golf courses, an award-winning over-water spa, dining venues, tennis courts, and a fitness center. The resort opened in October 2008 and includes 90 one-bedroom villas, 1 Presidential Suite, 45 residential villas with two to five bedrooms, 5 food and beverage venues, an off-property beach bar/restaurant, and other recreational facilities.
Role Purpose
The main objective of this position is to enforce safety and security procedures to protect guests, staff, and hotel property, and to respond appropriately when emergencies arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out assignments given by supervisors and management.
- Support team standards, demonstrate professionalism, and set a positive example for others.
- Attend all assigned training sessions.
- Show genuine warmth and courtesy toward guests and internal customers.
- Follow the hotel’s conduct, grooming, and hygiene standards at all times.
- Provide hands-on support to colleagues when workloads are heavy.
- Participate actively in briefings and team meetings.
- Keep the work area tidy and contribute to a safe workplace.
- Take on other related duties whenever needed.
- Patrol public spaces, parking areas, and back-of-house zones regularly to deter unauthorized access.
- Know how emergency life-safety equipment works and respond quickly to incidents.
- Monitor CCTV when stationed at the security desk and escalate unusual activity.
- Remain alert to potential security and safety risks and take corrective action.
- Support daily operations within the security team.
- Follow instructions from the Director of Security, Security Manager, Supervisors, and Security Officers during shifts.
- Inspect employee and contractor baggage when they leave the property, where required.
- Understand the fire panel and take proper action by notifying Engineering, supervisors, and ADH when it is activated, while recording the event in the registers.
- Control entry at the main gate and inform MOD and GSA while making the required register entries.
- Check villa security during day and night patrols.
- Maintain badges, registers, files, keys, radios, torches, and other desk equipment when assigned to the security desk.
- Record and safeguard lost-and-found items according to the required process.
- Report all safety and security incidents to management without delay.
- Assist with the arrival and departure of state officials, dignitaries, and government delegations.
- Escalate incidents immediately when they occur.
- Complete other duties assigned by resort management.
- Ensure office main doors are locked after normal working hours.
- Keep accurate logbook entries and update the manager or supervisor on important occurrences.
- Make sure emergency fire exits and stairways remain clear at all times.
- Stay vigilant in guest areas and identify suspicious or unauthorized individuals.
- Help prevent and reduce risks linked to fire, accidents, gas leaks, oil spills, bomb threats, and other emergencies, and notify the supervisor promptly.
- Know the resort evacuation process and participate in fire drills and simulations.
- Follow department policies and procedures as required.
- Perform any other job-related duties as needed.
Requirements
- Completion of secondary education.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Hotel industry background will be considered an advantage.
- Good command of English in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Training in fire fighting, first aid, and CPR.
- Valid clean morality certificate.
- Good physical fitness.
- Ability to follow compliance policies, including grooming policy, confidentiality agreement, anti-harassment policy, electronic systems policy, code of business conduct and ethics, and employee handbook acknowledgement.
