Role Overview
The School Librarian position is a full-time onsite role located at Glorious Child School Limited. The primary responsibility is to manage the day-to-day functioning of the school library including cataloging, organizing, and preserving a diverse range of library materials in both print and digital formats. This role involves assisting students and staff in locating information, promoting literacy and research skills, and conducting instructional sessions on library use.
The librarian will design age-appropriate programs, uphold library rules, collaborate with educators to integrate library resources with the curriculum, and ensure the library remains a friendly, welcoming, and orderly space. Additional duties include tracking library usage statistics, managing inventory, and contributing to school-wide efforts to cultivate a passion for reading and lifelong learning among students.
Qualifications and Skills
- A solid background in Library Science and Management with the capability to organize and categorize diverse collections effectively.
- Proficient in library services and instruction, providing support for both learners and teaching staff in resource utilization.
- Familiarity with metadata standards and basic cataloging principles to maintain accurate and accessible classifications.
- Possession of a diploma or degree in Library Science, Information Studies, Education, or an allied discipline.
- Preferably previous work experience in a school or academic library environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Strong organizational aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and competence in using library management software and general computer tools.
- A dedication to child protection, inclusivity, and support for diverse learning requirements.
