Overview

Join a leading Global Top Tier Management Consultancy's dynamic and diverse Transformation Delivery team, dedicated to delivering large-scale capital projects in Ireland. This role focuses on risk management within Infrastructure and Capital Projects (I&CP) such as Roads, Rail, and Utilities.

Role Summary

As a trusted advisor, you will guide clients through risk management processes, encompassing governance, assurance, and control strategies, supporting decision-making and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with leadership, delivery teams, and external stakeholders, helping embed a risk-aware culture throughout the organisation.

About the I&CP Team

The I&CP team operates within the Transformation Delivery practice, supporting major projects across Transport, Energy, Utilities, Housing, and Healthcare sectors. Their goal is to become trusted advisors in procurement, construction, and operational phases by leveraging people, partnerships, and global capital project experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain enterprise and project-level risk management frameworks for major infrastructure and capital investment programs.
  • Provide strategic risk advisory throughout project lifecycle stages from planning to handover.
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative risk assessments using tools such as Monte Carlo simulations and integrated cost and schedule risk modeling.
  • Advise on project governance structures, programme controls, contract strategies (including FIDIC, NEC), and procurement approaches to mitigate delivery risks.
  • Ensure assurance on cost, schedule, commercial risk, dispute avoidance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Engage senior clients, sponsors, and external stakeholders, conveying risk insights to support decisions.
  • Manage comprehensive risk registers documenting strategic risks, mitigations, escalations, and tracking.
  • Provide specialized risk management advice and conduct regular risk audits to identify challenges and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business units to integrate risk controls into daily operations.
  • Build strong relationships to support new business generation, lead business development and client proposal activities.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and contribute to high-performing team management including coaching, mentoring, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Participate in recruitment, retention, training, and ongoing educational programs to enhance technical skills.
  • Adhere to and promote workplace policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Risk Management, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years (Manager level) or 12 years (Senior Manager level) of experience in risk management, assurance, or controls on major infrastructure and capital projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk across cost, schedule, procurement, governance, regulatory, and stakeholder domains.
  • Proven leadership in managing risk on complex projects such as Transport, Energy, Utilities, Healthcare, or major public works, within Ireland or internationally.
  • Proficiency with risk management methodologies and tools like Primavera Risk Analysis, @Risk, quantitative risk analysis.
  • Good understanding of major contract forms such as FIDIC, NEC, and procurement models.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, influencig, and communication capabilities, capable of translating technical findings into strategic insights for executive audiences.

Preferred Attributes

  • Professional certification in Risk Management (e.g., IRM, PMI-RMP, ISO 31000).
  • Experience in consulting, advisory, or client leadership roles on major programs.
  • Commercial awareness to identify opportunities and develop client solutions.
  • Strategic thinking aligned with organizational goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and capacity to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
