The BRAIN group within WorldQuant functions akin to a B2C fintech platform. Its mission is to demystify quantitative finance for participants while providing education in quant finance, artificial intelligence, and machine learning concepts. BRAIN also offers a sophisticated crowdsourcing platform enabling external contributors to provide signals and data to the organization.
Role Overview
We are inviting applications for the position of Researcher within the BRAIN team. This role supports WorldQuant's crowdsourcing mission, allowing global skilled individuals to engage as Quants and contribute to financial research.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop Alphas and other algorithmic strategies on the BRAIN platform.
- Perform research based on academic quantitative finance literature.
- Identify emerging research areas and propose innovative concepts to expand these domains.
- Evaluate existing platform functionalities, identify problems, and recommend improvements.
- Conceptualize, implement, and test new features and datasets on the BRAIN platform.
- Collaborate with country leads and business development teams to execute BRAIN’s user and consultant acquisition strategies.
- Conduct training sessions for platform users and consultants, and keep the training curriculum updated.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience with the BRAIN platform or prior roles as VRC Research Consultant or BRAIN Research Consultant is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, science, mathematics, finance, or related quantitative and analytical disciplines from a reputable university.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language: Java, C++, C, Python, MySQL, or SQL Server; UNIX knowledge is an advantage.
- Possesses a research-oriented mindset; self-driven, creative, persistent, and motivated by challenging problems.
- Strong enthusiasm for global financial markets.
- Effective communication and presentation skills in English.
